I do not wish to condemn those youth who may presently be involved in the aforementioned acts, but my desire is to tell them that a change from their nefarious lifestyle is still possible. Paul was once Saul. They too have to change.

With the deteriorating economy in this part of the world, it is not surprising to see many young people living a life of crime in a bid to survive. But impecuniosity is not an excuse for a life of crime. One can be penurious and still be most transparent in his or her dealings with people.

My intention of writing this piece is to call on African youths, particularly the Nigerian youths, to eschew all forms of criminality and live a life of hard work, honesty and transparency. It is about time we all had the right values. Crime does not pay; ill-gotten wealth does not last either. Even the Bible says that a good name is better than riches. We should be more concerned about leaving behind a glorious legacy, an indelible mark, than storing up wealth gotten through deceit or fraud.
