Manchester United Prepares for Record-Breaking Signing

Griezmann spent five years with Real Sociedad before leaving for Atlético Madrid. Here, he truly showed his worth – in his 180 league games with the club, he scored 94 goals and helped the team win the UEFA Europa League in the 2017-2018 season. He left Madrid for rivals Barcelona in 2019 in the most expensive transfer in the year.

The ongoing pandemic has left the world of sports with little more than sporadic events to follow. Around the world, sporting events were cancelled, seasons were suspended, even the Summer Olympics was postponed for next year – something that hasn’t happened since World War II.

Football was off the screen and out of all Nigeria soccer betting apps since the middle of spring. The Belarus Premier League was pretty much the only European soccer league that didn’t suspend its games. At the same time, it was the only one Betway could cover during the hardest times of European soccer. The worst has passed, though, and now Betway’s betting options are back to their former glory.

But most European clubs suffered during the time without sports. The lack of games – and the lack of revenue – has hit most teams hard, leaving them with little money to spend on players during the summer transfer season.

Or so we thought. It seems that the clubs in the English Premier League have managed to gather significant budgets to improve their squads ahead of the new season. This goes especially for Manchester United that reportedly plans to spend an undoubtedly huge pile of cash on French international Antoine Griezmann.

Antoine Griezmann

Born and raised in Mâcon, France, Griezmann started playing football at the age of six, at first at the local club FC Mâcon. He was a small and thin child so several youth academies rejected his application. During his trials for Montpellier, he played in a friendly match against Paris Saint-Germain’s youth academy where he was spotted by a talent scout for the Spanish club Real Sociedad. After two weeks of trials, he joined the club’s youth side. He spent four years there before making his debut with the first team, bypassing the second team altogether. He made his debut in Copa del Rey on September 2, 2009, followed by his league debut four days later. Within a couple of weeks, he made his first professional start and his debut goal.

Moving to Old Trafford?

Earlier this year, Argentine football star Lionel Messi has decided to stay with Barcelona for one more season. For Griezmann, this could mean leaving Camp Nou for another team – apparently, he was promised Messi’s spot in the playfield.

Reports are speaking of it being a Premier League club. There are several major European teams keeping an eye on the French forward but the most likely to sign him are the Red Devils at this time. Apparently, the player – who has a pretty unimpressive year behind him, with only nine goals scored in his league games with Barca – would be a perfect fit for United’s lineup.

Considering the short summer break for the English Premier League, a decision about his transfer to England is to be expected soon.
