As Nigeria marks 25 years of continuous democracy, the nation reflects on the first year of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. Unfortunately, this period has brought significant challenges and economic hardship for many citizens.

One of the most painful decisions was the removal of the fuel subsidy, which has led to raising prices of essential goods, including food items that are necessary for survival. This decision has led the lost of many citizens life as a result of hunger, most the citizens they are unable to eat three square meal a day, some even one they can’t afford it, the situation was very bad in this administration. All as a result of fuel subsidy removal.

Security is another critical area where this administration has struggled. Kidnappings have become rampant, with people being abducted from their homes, on the roads, and even in schools. Instead of focusing on solutions to these pressing issues, the government has prioritized less critical matters, such as the return of the old national anthem, which is not benefited the citizens and even the country’s economic situations.

Amid these crises, some Nigerians long for the simplicity of past eras, with some even wishing for military intervention, as seen in neighboring countries like Niger and Chad. This sentiment highlights the severe dissatisfaction with current policies.

It is imperative that the government reconsiders its priorities, focusing on the basic needs of the public. Only then can we truly celebrate both the one-year mark of President Tinubu’s administration and the 25-year milestone of our democratic journey.
