The Integrity Youth Alliance has berated the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) and Joint Union Congress of the Police Service Commission (PSC) for asking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sack the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun for undermining the police recruitment process.

According to a press release on Wednesday, 19th June 2024 signed by the Board Chairman, Comrade Adewole Kehinde, said that the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) and Joint Union Congress of the Police Service Commission (PSC) seem carried away with their corruption activities on the recruitment exercise to have made such a nasty statement.

“We want to remind the ignorant of the PSC Joint Union of Section 7 of the Police Act of 2020 which stipulates that:

“(4) The Inspector-General of Police shall not be removed from office except for gross misconduct, gross violation of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or demonstrated incapacity to effectively discharge the duties of the office.

“(5) The Inspector-General of Police shall only be removed from office by the President on the advice of the Police Council.

“We are challenging Adoyi and his cohort to prove that ‘elements within the police Force attempted to smuggle over 1, 000 names into the recruitment list’.

The Alliance called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ignore the baseless call from the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) and Joint Union Congress of the Police Service Commission (PSC) but speedily set up a committee to look into the recruitment exercise especially the role played by the Union in the corruption activities behind it.
